Stepping out of the comfort zone: The new Amnasti album “It Took Me So Long” has just been released!

Amnasti, the duo consisting of Ana Ćurčin and Marko Nastić, presents their newly released debut album “It Took Me So Long“. The album is available on all digital platforms (https://album.link/nkzckhxmz558m), YouTube(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmzFeF4HKwY), and Bandcamp (https://pdvrecords.bandcamp.com/album/it-took-me-so-long), as well as limited vinyl (a joint release by Pop Depresija and PDV Records (PDV073)).

“The project started quite spontaneously and unexpectedly. I heard Ana at one of her concerts and invited her to feature on a song of mine, and soon after, there was an opportunity for that song to be included in a remix release that Matthew Herbert was supposed to work on. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, but our collaborative work in the studio brought us closer together, and we liked how it sounded, so we continued jamming. As time went on and more new songs emerged, everything started to take on a more concrete form. I think we found it interesting and challenging to step out of our comfort zone and explore new sounds.” Marko Nastić said.

It Took Me So Long” is atypical collection of electronic music features layers of sounds, textures, beats, and ambient backdrops over which Ana sings about love, loneliness, family, decision-making, and coming of age. The music draws equally from the aesthetics of the ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s, incorporating numerous interesting arrangement choices and improvisations. The album consists of eight tracks, including the lead single, and alongside that are “Protect Me”, “We Said Everything Else”, “Wait”, “Darling”, “Smiling”, “Let’s Go Out” i “Submit”.

“If I dive into my digital archive, work files start appearing all the way back in 2016, when Marko and I (a bit younger then) spontaneously sat down and started exchanging ideas and song sketches. Although the pace of work wasn’t exactly helpful, those songs went through a decent period of life with us and matured over time. If this album had been ready in 2017, it definitely wouldn’t have been quite like this, so it unconsciously waited for this moment to take its final shape. Working with Marko has been a complete departure from my “comfort zone,” both in terms of how we work on songs and generally in a musical sense. This has been an exciting field of experimentation and opening up for me, where we use a completely different approach to create songs, emotions, and stories within a completely different musical expression.” Ana Ćurčin said.

Denis Beganović (on keyboards and bass) made a significant contribution to creating the grooves and atmosphere of the album. Vasil Hadžimanov co-authored the mystical song “Wait” on which he played the piano. The powerful track “Darling” could be an ideal choice for the second single release, while “Smiling” became a favorite among numerous colleagues and friends even before the album’s release, as they had the opportunity to hear the songs as they were being created. The album cover art is by Mihael Milunović, with sleeve design by Bratislav Milenković.

Ana and Marko are planning to hold the album launch event in Belgrade as early as May, followed by concerts in Zagreb and other cities in the region thereafter.
