UK legends The Varukers, along with local punk forces, to finalize the lineup of Martinska Punk meets Kanal Fest 2024

The three-day punk festival Martinska Punk meets Kanal Fest has announced the rest of this year’s lineup! British punk legends The Varukers lead the remaining six announced names coming to Martinska, Šibenik from July 25th to 27th 2024. In addition to The Varukers, there are Nula from Šibenik, Samobor’s hardcore pioneers Deafness by Noise, Alergija from Zadar, Kiper from Zagreb, and punk legend from Pula, Saša 21. This completes the list of performers who will be playing at Martinska this summer. The three-day punk bash on the peninsula opposite Šibenik will also host UK legends Peter and the Test Tube Babies, German Hookline, Italian Obscene Revenge, Slovenian Wasserdicht, Serbian Neven, as well as excellent Croatian bands OSA (One Step Away) and Pardon.

The Varukers

The Varukers are a British punk band founded in 1979 by vocalist Anthony “Rat” Martin. From the very beginning, they have emerged as messengers of anarchist political ideology reflected in their lyrics. They released their most influential recordings in the early eighties and were one of the first bands to play D-beat. Throughout all these years, the band has gone through many lineup changes, with the only constant member being vocalist Rat, while guitarist Biff has been with the band since 1985.

Nula

Nula will be performing at Martinska for the third time in five years and have become the hosts of the festival. This time they will exclusively play material from their new album, recorded in the fall of 2023. Their first solo “Album” was recorded in the same place as the legendary “Pobijedimo laž” – in their basement rehearsal space in Šibenik, affectionately called “Konoba.” You can hear what conclusions this legendary Šibenik HC/punk band from 1993 until today has come to on the “Album,” which is being released on May 31st, and for which the crowdfunding campaign is still ongoing. crowdfunding.

Deafness by Noise

The Samobor hardcore legends Deafness by Noise mark three decades of existence, creation, and shaping of the local hardcore punk scene with their current album “Dial ‘N’ for Noize”! In their career, they have held more than 1000 concerts, 15 solo European tours, as well as tours alongside world legends. The current album leaves no one indifferent, and they bring their uncompromising mix of fierce genres to Martinska.

Alergija

Formed in 1994, Alergija comes from Zadar and brings their well-known sound of street punk rock that has lasted for almost 30 years. Since reuniting, the hyperproductive punkers from Zadar have been releasing single after single, resulting in the new album “Krv i znoj”. Symbolically released on April 27th 2024, on the 30th anniversary of Alergija’s first rehearsal, the new album brings their familiar sound of street punk rock!

Kiper

Kiper is a Zagreb HC punk quartet that has been around for more than 15 years, with two albums and three EPs under their belt. Kiper consists of long-time actors of the domestic alternative scene, and they have transferred that sound into this band. Soundwise, Kiper rumbles down the road that connects melodic with abrasive hardcore punk, all seasoned with sharp lyrics in their native language. Prior to the start of summer, they release a new EP titled “Aksiom,” which will be among the first to be heard by the audience at Martinska.

Saša 21

Pioneers of boogie punk rock, founded more than a decade ago, Saša 21 is the current band of former guitarist and main author of KUD Idijoti, Croatian scene veteran Salet Veruda. In addition to playing guitar, Saša has also taken on the role of vocalist. Their performance is characterized by elementary, basic, short songs delivered through stripped-down rock sound of a trio formation.
