The hip-hop festival PREACH THE RIČ has added more impressive names to its lineup, with Eminem's producer DJ Head and Detroit rapper Valid joining the performers at Martinska. The festival, which takes place on August 16 and 17, 2024, at Martinska in Šibenik, Croatia, had previously announced performances by American hip-hop legends Arrested Development and Serbia's Bad Copy. The warm-up for the festival's second edition starts in Zagreb on Wednesday, June 19, with a promo party featuring Brooklyn champ Masta Ace and producer Marco Polo.
Detroit producer DJ Head holds a special place among hip-hop giants, contributing to Eminem's first four albums, producing the massive hit "Without Me," and being responsible for the monumental collaboration between Eminem and Jay Z on the song "Renegade." He also collaborates with other greats in the genre, such as Xzibit and D12. His knack for discovering emerging talents introduced the world to 50 Cent and Obie Trice. Eminem himself revealed that it was DJ Head who handed him a mixtape that featured 50 Cent's songs, which Head bought on the streets of New York. The music DJ Head has produced has not only been multi-Grammy-winning but also sold in diamond quantities. The Detroit legend continues to leave his mark on the hip-hop scene. His latest collaboration with Valid is one in a series, with his fellow Detroiter currently being the fastest-growing artist in the genre's fan base.
Valid, born in Detroit with Balkan roots, has made a name for himself on both the American and European scenes in recent years. Under DJ Head's mentorship, Valid has been collaborating with notable names in the hip-hop scene in both the US and the region since his debut album "Mihajlo" in 2019. His latest single "May 6th" was created in collaboration with Balkan hip-hop icons Knowwhere2run and Vibin wit DJ Mono, bringing the Đurđevdan holiday to life.
Festival tickets priced at 50 euros are available at the following link. Tickets can also be purchased at all sales points (online and physical) on the Entrio and Core Event platforms. With a festival ticket, each visitor is entitled to use the festival campsite at the location, included in the ticket price.
Masta Ace & Marco Polo Live at Zagreb's Warm-Up for PREACH THE RIČ
Zagreb's promo party for the PREACH THE RIČ Festival will be nothing short of exclusive, featuring Masta Ace, an American rapper and producer from New York, on Wednesday, June 19, at DVA OSAM. Described as "one of the great, pure New York MCs," this veteran has been repeatedly cited by Eminem as a storytelling master he admired. Masta Ace's connection to Croatia dates back to 2001 when he was introduced to the work of local producers through Phat Phillie. Ace soon chose to work with Koolade, collaborating with him several times throughout his career. Their song "Beautiful" from Ace's album "Long Hot Summer" became an underground hit and hip-hop classic. Masta Ace first performed in Zagreb in 2001 and has since returned to Croatia with pleasure. His strong connection to the local scene is also evidenced by his collaboration with Frenkie, featuring Ace and Phat Phillie on the song "Živili," produced by Edo Maajka. Masta Ace also rapped on Gibonni's song "Toleranca" and appeared at his major concert at Cibona.
Masta Ace has long collaborated with Marco Polo, a Canadian producer based in New York. Together, they have two joint albums, the latest being "Richmond Hill" (2024), which they are promoting on their European tour. The New York duo is coming under the organization of Blackout Hip Hop and Pozitivan ritam.
A limited number of Early Bird tickets for Masta Ace & Marco Polo's performance at the PREACH THE RIČ promo party are available for 20 euros at this link. Once these sell out, the ticket price will be 25 euros. If any tickets remain until the concert, the door price will be 30 euros.
